Someone once said that it carries the weight and importance of a family Bible, and I think that my mother would have been pleased that it has remained so timeless and relevant and loved.

Q: Victoria, is the 50th Anniversary edition the exact replica of the original or is it updated in any way? VP: The book is an exact replica in so far as we could do it—for example, to get a bronze leatherette was out of the budget. And we have upgraded the quality of the photos. I wrote a piece that gives the history of the book and tries to capture what people have loved about it all these years.

And we are very grateful that Wolfgang Puck has written a new preface, plus a number of very well-known chefs and people from the food world have contributed their comments as well.

Q: The book features recipes collected by your parents as they traveled the world dining at the finest restaurants. Rumor has it that the couple flattered, then begged, famous chefs for these recipes and these recipes were recreated in their home for guests? Can you tell us a little bit more about these parties?

VP: My father was an exemplary host and my mother, the visionary, saw to every detail. My mother was wonderful at seating people next to the right person with whom they needed to connect.

My father always brought such joy to every occasion. People felt special, cared for, connected, and like they had shared an incredible experience. VP: Keeping the Vincent Price Legacy alive is a labor of love for me.

My father inspired me to travel the world and share his message of joy and his legacy of yes! The Vincent Price themed dinners are a part of this legacy. Dinners are set up throughout the United States and consist of dishes made from the recipes in the book, speaking about my parents and a multi-media presentation including photographs and occasionally a screening and book signing.

These dinners remind people of the essential message of the cookbook — that food is not the focus of our lives, but a conduit for connection. In this age of social media, where a Facebook Like passes for friendship, what is more, important than sharing a meal or an adventurous experience with friends, family — or in the case of these dinners, with total strangers who can become new friends!

I always like the ones they include in the magazine especially the lovely pictures. I like this idea; you always see recipe books focusing on fat content, low sodium, and other diet trends.

It's nice to see a cookbook that actually looks at the cost of the meal! Wow, I could use this cookbook! I agree that most cookbooks like this have regurgitated hamburger recipes and I am excited one may not.

I browsed the recipes and was pleased by how simple they were- even a novice like myself was not scared! The skillet lasagna looks fantastic, as do all the soups and chowders. My only concern is the fat content.

I hope I can swap in low-fat alternative ingredients without raising the prices too much. Especially those with color photographs and great ideas for eating well inexpensively. I consider myself a frugal foodie, someone who uses the good stuff, but uses it sparingly to make it go farther!

This would save me a lot of time.. I'm always searching through recipe blogs looking for a recipe that would be easy and cheap to make. More time eating, less time looking for something to eat! Eating well is a big thing for me and it's hard to do sometimes.

Cutting out the extra fat, sugar, and salt is important to me for my health. If this cookbook can deliver on its promise, that would be huge.

This looks like such a fabulous cookbook. I appreciate that the food looks like food adults would enjoy eating and that the cost per serving looks lower than other cookbooks that claim to be low cost, but are at least twice the price per serving than this.

Whenever I stand at the cookbook section at the bookstore I tend to get so overwhelmed and hardly any of the bigger books with lots of recipes have any pictures that I soon wander away without anything.

Hence outside of my 's copy of the Betty Crocker's kids cookbook, we've only got ourselves and the internet. I'd think it would be great to try some of the recipes in this book, with a lower cost per serving and ingredients I can probably find in my small town.

I like the cost per serving breakdown. Does it include nutritional information as well? Alot of the cookbooks I have looked at either have one or the other but not both. I'd love to see a cookbook that recognizes that providing nutritionally healthful meals that look at things such as sodium, saturated fat, sugar, carbs or fiber and wanting to control grocery budget costs are not mutually exclusive tasks for homemakers.

It would be nice to have a cookbook that combines saving money with still eating well -- a lot of times it seems that has to be a trade-off.

I think this cook book would be a waste of money for someone on a tight food budget. As someone who's just learning to cook well and frugally on her own, this book looks like a good way to combine the two at a time when I really need it.

Count me in. I, too, like the fact that each recipe is pictured. Plus the recipes seem simple enough even for me I'm not very skilled in the kitchen! Points to this book for no super long list of ingrediants or really odd ingrediants that you'd only use once and then waste. I'm interested in trying the corn chowder and lemon chicken recipies I love the idea of seeing pictures of each meal.

This way I know if what I'm about to cook is presentable enough for company, and they won't need to know that I am actually being frugal. I hate cooking, but have been trying to do more of it to save money and to eat healthier. I'm also kind of a picky eater because I like my food simple, but these recipes look like easy recipes that I would love to try.
