Sample and save

can some one give me a tip on how to save the samples i record using octatrack so i dont loose them when i turn ir off?? what is the proccess?? how do i save them?? Did your octatrack come with a manual? If not, you can find it online. My suggestion is to read the chapter on the audio editor page 96!

Yeah, that helped, now I am obsessed about saving any changes to samples, so far so good, but before they were disappearing. ugh oh please give me a piece of advice here, too!

so basically it just renames my recording buffer which is gonna be cleared once i reload project or turn off the OT, as i figured. i obviously need to save sample copy and then manually assign that one. Even if you erase it with a new recording, you can reload it with REVERT TO SAVED FILE.

You can use SAVE AND ASSIGN if you want to make a copy and assign it. thank you man. It looks like all my slice bars are still where they were but I see no waveforms, and the slices seem to be bunched up all together at the end of the track but the the sample is not there at all.

I"m pretty sure I fucked up when I switched the machine off to see if it would reload the samples, although they were already gone before I did that. Hey, keep calm.

After that check Bank. If you change to a new Bank your sampleslots might be empty. If that is the case, your only option is to embrace this as a learning lesson that you must always save your samples immediately if you are happy with the recording. I have learned, then forgotten this lesson twice.

Then I listen back to the sample by holding down the Track Key and pressing Play. You can always delete later if you end up changing your mind. This may or may not be helpful, but less than two weeks ago I posted pretty much the same thing. Even went as far as to ask if I possibly got a faulty unit.

Thankfully not counting a couple playful barbs , the folks here were very helpful and supportive and more or less talked me off the ledge. So the price for all that functionality is the possibility of making mistakes.

Accidentally went into the wrong bank, pattern, part, etc. Seriously, all the best getting sorted! I probably did one of the other things mentioned above, but like bumbling lumox I am I decided to switch the unit off as I believed I was safe… but the samples were definitely still sitting In the recording buffer.

So yeah basically, how do I save these EXS samples to this fabled 'Samples' folder. This has been driving me insane for years so any help really appreciated! You can use the Export Sampler Instrument and Sample files option in the EXS editor's Instrument menu to "bundle" your Instrument with the samples.

If you choose the latter you'll have to create an alias of the instrument and move it to the default folder enabling Logic Pro to recognise it. Thanks a lot Eric, this seems like it's almost got me there.

The following happens when I Export to the Sampler Instruments folder:. This seems like a reasonable way to manage things, except for when I saved my second one to this location it created the folder for audio files and saved those, but didn't save the sampler instrument at all.

Is there something I'm missing here? When I delete everything from the base 'sampler instruments' and try this again I get the same thing. These are the methods I like to use to save my own samples in Ableton Live. When you drag a clip into the browser a new project folder is created. In the root of that folder you'll find a file with the sound's name but the format is. alc - an Ableton proprietary format for clips - which references the audio in the newly created project but does not contain any audio itself.

If you move your samples around for organization it's easy for this system to break down as the two files can easily get separated, lost, or accidentally deleted. I think it's better to just keep the audio on its own - you can find it in the "samples" folder under its appropriate category.

From here, you can move the. wav file to your sample library. If you don't plan to take the audio out of live, you'll probably be fine using the.

alc files. When you drag clips into this folder a project won't be created. Instead, all of the. wav samples will collect in the user library's global sample folder, keeping your. alc clips folder clean. The workaround for this is to instead pull the whole track that contains the clips into the folder.

Small blips of sounds that you could easily look over become unusual, wonderful percussion for your tracks. On the other hand, if you want to make granular adjustments to a dial, just hold down the cmd key to make fine tuned adjustments.
